Fashion Model Agency for You

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010
It goes without saying that countless individuals, male and female, young and old, want to test the waters of modeling. Maybe it’s high fashion, maybe it’s swimsuit and maybe it’s commercial print. Regardless, millions of people go after modeling jobs every year. However, are you aware that not ever fashion model agency is looking for the same thing. If you haven’t already noticed, different agencies employ different models to create different looks for their campaigns. What does this mean? How about that there is no exact norm in the modeling industry. While a fashion model agency will have certain expectation from potential models, that “model look” may not always be the same.

Have you ever ventured off to a go-see or open call at a fashion model agency? If the answer is no, then let me give you a quick scoop. Most fashion modeling agencies offer a particular time each week or month where they allow aspiring models to come in and be examined. You can bring in a portfolio or merely a few snapshots. Just so you know, most high-end fashion agencies don’t want to see glamour shots or any made-up photos for that matter. They want to see what you truly look like, make-up free and hair up. After all, your complexion, hair, teeth and figure are all major aspects of modeling. If you don’t have any professional pictures, don’t worry about it. Simple take a few snap shots and bring them with your to the fashion model agency you’re interested in.

The web has quite a bit to offer in regards to fashion model agencies now days! What I mean is, you can look up their official websites any time you choose. Often a fashion model agency will allow you to contact them via email and attach a few photos for them to look at. This way they’re able to distinguish on some level whether or not they’d be interested in seeing you in-person. In some cases, fashion modeling agencies will even fly you out and do a test shoot. This is the best way to determine if they can make money off of your look. If you are interested in modeling, don’t put the dream on hold. Most women are teenagers when they tack this field and men are in their twenties.

Top Models

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010
Models are people, either male or female, who act as props for the display of items like dresses, jewelry, accessories and the like. Modeling is basically of two types fashion modeling and commercial modeling.

Fashion modeling is an intrinsic part of the clothing industry. Leading designers rely on fashion models to walk the ramp in fashion shows to display their collections. Fashion models are used for photo shoots also. Such assignments require them to show particular emotions and feelings on their faces. So fashion models need to have a certain amount of acting skills too. Also, it is not unusual for fashion models to use their modeling career as a stepping stone for an acting career.

Fashion models may be either high fashion models or commercial models. Both types churn out a regular crop of top models from time to time. Several top models specialize in high fashion modeling. Artistic themes are used as backdrops for such assignments. These kinds of assignments pay very well and add a lot of value to a model’s portfolio. In fact, a few high fashion assignments done with leading photographers is enough to turn a model into a top model.

Commercial models model for assignments like catalogues, cosmetics, various print magazines and the like. Several commercial models also go on to become famous top models with their names being recognized in every household. Top models are often sought after for product endorsements.

Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks, Twiggy, Gisele Bundchen, Christie Brinkley, Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford, Petra Nemcova, Beverly Johnson, Elle Macpherson, and Janice Dickinson are a few popular top models who are recognized in all households all over America. Daria Werbowy, Gemma Ward, Lily Cole, Natalia Vodianova, and Karolina Kurkova are a few of the notable top models of today.

Though photographs of top models with their smiling faces may suggest a luxurious life, it is luxury that is hard earned after hundreds of shows, shoots and the like which would have taken a lot of time and effort.

Fashion Tips : How to Dress like a Fashion Model

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010
Clothes have a profound effect on us psychologically. Choosing the wrong color makes you look sick and ghastly. Worse, it spoils your day as the color of your clothes can affect your mood. First of all, you need to consider your skin tone, eye and hair color. It is advisable to try out clothes in different colour and get a close friend or family member to see if a particular color suits you. If possible, try to get as many colors in your wardrobe that suit you.
Both white and black are versatile colors. A white top can match a bottom of any color. Similarly, a black bottom can go with any color for your top. Different colors connote and express different emotions to suit each new day. Wearing white lightens and brightens your mood and symbolises purity and cleanliness. Black gives you elegance and an air of mystery not to mention sex appeal. Red makes you stand out in the crowd and works well especially if you want to draw attention. It symbolises passion, energy and excitement. Yellow connotes optimism, fun and joy. Blue is soothing and calming as well as inspiring. Lastly green symbolise freshness, harmony and love.
It is always better to over dress for an occasion . For example , if the invitation card says smart casual, you can always overdress with your jacket. If everyone wears one, you won’t feel awkward or embarrassed especially if it is a sales presentation and you stand to lose points with your client. If no one wears jackets you can always take it off and blend in with the crowd.
No one has a perfect figure all the time. What you need to do is to accentuate your strength and downplay bad points. Wear larger prints in areas where you want people to focus and smaller prints on parts which you want to draw attention away from. Skirt length should be knee level if your thighs are big. Jacket hems should not fall where your hips are the widest. It should be a little higher up. Wear something which gives you a lower or wider neckline. It makes your neck look longer and your face thinner. The overall impression is a slimmer you. Follow these rules. Dark colors tend to make you look slimmer while light and bright colors tend to make you look plumber. If possible, go for a monochromatic look which makes you look slimmer. Clothes with vertical stripes make you look slimmer too. Try not to expose your arms with sleeveless tops.
Don’t buy something simply because it is on sale and in the bargain bins. There’s a reason for it simply because the sizes available are usually at the both ends of the scales or they could be odd sizes. It is important to wear clothes that fit. Otherwise you feel uncomfortable when you sit down and breathe. Clothes that are either too large or tight will make you look larger than you are. Another important point to note is don’t buy smaller clothes thinking you will slim down in the near future. The size you buy should be the one that fits you now.
